I looked into speed differences when I got a MicroSD card before my N3DS XL. Conclusion I came across is: Make sure its class 10 and not the low end for Old 3DS. Have not seen any speed tests with New 3DS XL. Oddly nintendo support only mentions the more expensive SanDisk Extreme and a max 30MB/s Toshiba card.
